Hello!!!

OK. So here I am nearing the big day (July 6th) and the adventure of a lifetime to start less than a week later. My plan is to keep a diary of our travels, but a blog seems like a good way to keep all informed of how our journey is proceeding. I will be taking lots of pix with my Rebel XTi, and I can post some of them here. In the mean time I still have 17 work days (assuming I can stand to work all five days the week of June 25). In case anyone out there didn't know it, I am not working Fridays for the duration except for 6/29 and 7/6 (my last day). It is starting to sink in that I will no longer be getting up at 5:00 AM and doing the beltway tango. I will miss work, but I won't miss getting up in the dark nor the twice daily commute.

So, check back later for more updates as we get closer to departure day.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a camera for scenery that is better than the standard point and shoot. After much research we settled on the latest. We picked it up at Penn Camera (local camera with actual knowledgeable people -- compare to Ritz). I spent two days just reading the manuals. I've taken lots of pix, but haven't printed a single one yet. Maybe after I get some of grand kiddies, I'll do some printing. Watch for a Picassa link coming soon to this blog.
